Why I Started True North Sec
Hey,
I’m Darius Dogaru, the founder of True North Sec. I created this site because I believe every Canadian deserves to understand what’s really happening when it comes to cyber threats — without needing a computer science degree to make sense of it. As someone just starting out in cybersecurity, I wanted to build a space where the news about attacks, scams, and data breaches is explained clearly, honestly, and in plain English.
My passion for tech started early, thanks to my dad — a seasoned IT professional who always seemed to have the answers when computers acted up or systems went sideways. Watching him work, and listening to how he broke down complex ideas, sparked something in me. He didn’t just fix problems — he made them make sense. That mindset stuck with me, and it’s a big reason why I found my path in cybersecurity.
I’m fascinated by how quickly the digital world moves — and how dangerous it can be if we don’t stay informed. Every day brings new threats: ransomware, phishing, data leaks… and most people don’t even hear about them until it’s too late. I didn’t want to sit on the sidelines. I wanted to help. That’s why True North Sec exists — to break down cyber attacks, explain how they affect real people, and give Canadians the tools to stay safe.
This site is my way of turning passion into action — and helping others feel just a bit more secure in an increasingly digital world. Thanks for being here!
